What's New in the Optimization Explorer: Correlate Events and Errors at a Glance

Raphaela Brückl

When a machine fails, it's rarely a single metric that tells the whole story. Now, by visually correlating events and sensor data in one intuitive view, you can uncover root causes faster, spot patterns early, and act decisively—without switching tools or exporting data.

Understand Errors Better Through Visual Correlation

You can now view error and warning messages – and also analyze them directly in relation to key machine metrics.

What’s New

The latest update to the Optimization Explorer introduces a powerful new capability:
Event correlation with machine metrics – letting you overlay warnings, errors, and other events directly on time-series charts of key data points like temperature, pressure, and load.

You can now:

  • Display multiple metrics alongside errors and warnings
  • Visualize patterns with color-coded markers
  • Toggle events on/off for cleaner comparisons

Why It Matters

Understanding that a machine throws an error is only half the story. The real power lies in uncovering why it happens.

Visual correlation unlocks insights that were previously buried in separate data silos. You can now:

  • Identify hidden dependencies, like temperature spikes preceding a pressure warning
  • Uncover recurring patterns, such as specific events always happening during load peaks
  • Take targeted preventive action, such as adapting maintenance schedules or optimizing system cooling

Real-world insight:

Take this example from a recent application:

Opti En

The bar chart in the History section shows that the warningMain drive current spike (overcurrent, undercurrent), occurred repeatedly and remained active over an extended period (orange bars), totaling 25 events and 21 minutes of total warning time.

By simultaneously displaying the main drive current in the lower chart, a clear pattern emerges: this error consistently appears when current values at the main drive spike or fluctuate significantly.

This visual correlation provides service technicians with an intuitive way to identify root causes of issues. An example is the main drive current:

  • Open the error analysis with one click
  • See the most relevant issues visualized directly in the app
  • Identify critical issues at a glance
  • Monitor main drive current behavior in more detail, with real-time data in just two clicks
  • Detect errors and worsening conditions early and take preventive action
  • Inspect the drive system for potential electrical or mechanical issues

Compare Multiple Metrics – Gain Deeper Insights

From now on, the Optimization Explorer allows you to display multiple machine metrics simultaneously.

This multi-layered view significantly enhances your root cause analysis – helping service technicians and maintenance teams make the right decision faster.
